The Diamond Maker

August 8, 2016

Wrapped up in you,

baptized by you,

eternally untied and sewn again by you.

I felt betrayed by you,

tricked by faith,

left a jaded fool watching my own house burn down.

Standing sober in the ashes,

I looked to the rising sun,

guarded and with trepidation asking,

Can I trust you again?

Can I trust love again?

My heart is being purified by saltwater and sea;

weathered, polished, and rocked in oceanic lullabies.

How is it that my heart can grow stronger yet more innocent?

Wrapped up in you,

baptized by you,

I return to you.
